Democrats are not serious about reducing or eliminating the corrosive impact of special interest money in government. This explains why America’s welfare is being ignored. Only money-interests are being heard:
The lobbying industry has donated $545,173 to 2020 presidential campaigns with nearly 80 percent going to Democratic candidates, even as many of those hopefuls vow not to take donations from lobbyists.
The share of wealth held by the Forbes 400 more than doubled from $1.27 trillion in 2009 to nearly $3 trillion this year. That marks a significant increase encouraged by a combination of sliding tax rates, stock market growth, and the economic recovery, according to Gabriel Zucman, an economist at the University of California, Berkeley.
…The amount of taxable income for the wealthiest group of US citizens dropped from 27% in 2009 to around 23% this year, the first time they were effectively taxed lower than the nation’s working class, Business Insider reported last month.
This is a travesty. He worked honorably for the U.S. for 18 years. Now he’s being treated like a criminal for something he knew nothing about. Serving America should count for something. Not the case. Not in Trump’s America:
Raul Rodriguez had worked for U.S. Customs for 18 years when internal investigators confronted him last year with a document he had never seen before: His Mexican birth certificate.
Rodriguez, 51, a customs officer in Texas’ Rio Grande Valley, felt the blood drain from his face. He had lived in the United States as long as he could remember and had no idea he was actually born across the border in Matamoros, Mexico.
“It was my worst fear,” he said Friday in an interview at his San Benito, Texas, home.
The Navy veteran was not charged with a crime but he was fired by U.S. Customs and Border Protection in July, lost his health insurance and had his residency application rejected this month. He and his wife, Anita, 54, a Homeland Security immigration officer, hope he gets to keep his retirement benefits.
This documentary exposes the myth of the propaganda that America is prospering. The truth is only the very wealthy are benefitting from this economy. The average American just gets crumbs. The rest of us go from paycheck to paycheck. We barely keep our heads above water. The 1 percent have never had it better. And both parties are to blame. For decades while Democratic and Republican politicians put their hands out to Wall St. families lost their jobs overseas replaced by poor paying employment. In many cases without benefits. Our incomes cannot keep a roof over our heads. Meanwhile the rich are getting tax cuts and some of the largest corporations in America pay no taxes.
Acting deputy Homeland Security Secretary Ken Cuccinelli was reportedly forced to leave an event on Thanksgiving eve after former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley blasted him for carrying out the Trump administration’s immigration policies.
Congressional records show that Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) flew to Europe at the same time that Rudy Giuliani’s indicted crony Lev Parnas says the congressman met with an ousted Ukrainian prosecutor in a hunt for dirt on Joe Biden.
Nunes and three aides flew to Europe last year on Nov. 30 and returned Dec. 3 at a cost to taxpayers of $63,000, according to congressional records unearthed by The Daily Beast. According to Parnas, Nunes met in Vienna last December with controversial former Ukraine prosecutor Viktor Shokin, CNN reported Friday. Shokin was forced out of office by the Ukrainian Parliament over corruption concerns in 2016 under pressure from the U.S. and Western allies. Biden was a key part of the effort to drive him out when he was vice president.
We must not give in the encroaching corporate dictatorship in America. To remain silent and acquiesce means the loss of all our freedoms:
About 200 Google employees and other tech workers assembled outside the company’s downtown San Francisco office on Friday to call for the reinstatement of two workers placed on leave this month for reasons they claim are connected to their internal activism.
The protesters accused the company of suspending the employees, Laurence Berland and Rebecca Rivers, to intimidate and silence others inside the Alphabet-owned internet giant who have spoken out on a variety of issues including the company’s pursuit of defense contracts and decreasing internal transparency.
“Our co-workers…have been on the front lines of this struggle for freedom and good jobs for all here at Google,” Stephanie Parker, a Google employee and one of the organizers of a November 2018 walkout by 20,000 Googlers, said at the rally. “Their reward? Google has suspended them from their jobs and interrogated them for speaking out. We are here today to show them our support and demand that Google bring them back immediately.”
Newly uncovered emails reveal that the Republican National Committee demanded that President Donald Trump’s nominee for the U.S. ambassador to the Bahamas donate $500,000 ahead of his Senate confirmation hearings.
CBS News reports that RNC Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel asked billionaire Doug Manchester for more cash at a time when his confirmation as Bahamas ambassador had seemingly stalled.
It’s no longer a secret. Trump is a working on behalf of Putin and Russia:
More evidence that President Trump is acting as Putin’s poodle comes with news late this week that Russia is now taking over a key U.S. airfield in the Kobani region of Syria. Russian forces raised their flag on Nov. 14 over the Serin base south of the city of Kobani which, as one report accurately put it, “has symbolic value since it was the first city w[h]ere the Islamic State was defeated in January 2015.”
